Network and Infrastructure Engineer

IFB is looking for someone to join our team as a Network and Infrastructure Engineer 

The role itself is full-time and would suit a qualified Network and Infrastructure Engineer with experience in a busy design, delivery and support department within a dynamic multi service provider. You will of course be technically capable but also play a key part in supporting in our growth, developing our culture and our relationships with our customers.

The key responsibilities are:

Network Connectivity

  • Design delivery and support of key connectivity covering Copper and Fibre Broadband, Ethernet, IP-VPN, QoS and VoIP
  • Switching & Routing – configuration, support and maintenance of routers, switches, and operating environments – Cisco based
  • Firewalling - configuration, support and maintenance of firewall and security devices – IFB is mainly a Cisco house and we utilise other vendor technologies
  • Wireless Networking – Design, deployment and support of wireless network services to customers

Infrastructure

  • Core network support and development including Core IP, transit and peering, distribution, access,
  • Datacenter centric services including server and data backup services

Voice Services

  • Provision of telephony training to customers in support of the deployment of new telephony systems
  • Support of Telecoms services to customers, encompassing end to end service provision e.g. connectivity, networking hardware including switches, compatibility audit of customer network, routers, ATA’s, telephony hardware including phones (handsets and wireless), expansion modules

Pre-sales Support

  • Work with business development team to help discovery and design solutions based on customers’ needs and constraints to design and propose viable technical solutions which fulfil customer’s commercial and technical requirements
  • Review, recommend and approve written customer proposals from a technical perspective where appropriate ready for managerial approval
  • Assist the sales team in developing their understanding of the technical benefits of IFB’s solutions and any supplier specific variations
  • Support bid / tender processes as required including attendance at customer scoping meeting
  • Document technical solutions and product information in the appropriate location e.g. technical file share

Your skills and attributes:

  • Be focused on the customer in all that is delivered
  • In-depth knowledge of networking solutions and experience in a hands-on network engineer role and awareness of VoIP
  • Demonstrable experience of providing exceptional customer support in a technical helpdesk environment
  • Certification such as Cisco CCNA, CCNP or CCDA and ITIL would be advantageous
  • An understanding of virtual and physical server and storage infrastructure, how these are linked together and operate with Networks would be preferable
  • Ability to use vendor portals for diagnostics, logging of faults and RMA’s
